Can I get historic Twitter data for a hashtag and how much does it cost?

Yes, you can definitely access historic Twitter data using a variety of search terms and filters, including specific hashtags. The estimates are free and unlimited, but you generate them yourself via a self-serve interface:

You need a combination of Sifter and DiscoverText:

Our pricing model is simple:

  • Three free estimates per day.
  • $25 per day of data retrieval.
  • $7.50 per 10,000 tweets.
Any Sifter purchase includes 14 days of Enterprise DiscoverText access. This enables up to three users to collaborate on the dataset.
  • Realtime Gnip Twitter collection via DiscoverText avoids the $25/historical day charge on Sifter.

Please see http://sifter.texifter.com/Home/Pricing for more information.

Sorry, but there is no mechanism to access the data from Python, however you can access the data through our normal process at sifter.texifter.com.
