How are the influence scores calculated for Twitter data?

I am analyzing the Twitter tweet data collected from DiscoverText and notice that influence scores do not range from 0 to 100. For example, some user’s influence scores are 1246 or 156. I anticipated that DiscoverText would use the Klout Score, which only ranges from 0 to 100. How is the influence score calculated?

DiscoverText’s influence score is a simple ratio of the number of Twitter accounts that follow a user to the number of accounts the user follows. If 1,000 accounts follow a user, and that user follows only 100 accounts, then the influence score would be 10.

In the future we will be adding in network based measures of influence based on NodeXL.
